Bill Engvall hosts the 2009 CMT Music Awards tonight at 8/7c, live from Nashville. This is officially the 8th annual show, although they used to be called the Flameworthy Awards from 2002 – 2004. I applaud them for the name change. Like the People’s Choice Awards, CMT Music Award winners are determined by the fans, so country music lovers should be sure to tune in and voice their choice.

Performers tonight include nominees Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts.

In the category of Duo of the Year, Sugarland is up for two awards: “Already Gone” and “All I Want to Do.” Montgomery Gentry’s nomination is for “Roll With Me,” while Brooks & Dunn received their nod for “Put a Girl in It.”

And if so, which one? This is a band I don’t know but can thirty-five million Americas be wrong? I’m going to take everyone’s word for it. And the crowd here — from my trusty vantage point in row 17 — is going truly mad. Okay. I’ll listen to them. yes. Now people are literally dancing in their seats. Wow. But what CD to buy first? Am I sure about this?

Now, admittedly, they appear to be diamond encrusted, supple, zillion dollar corinthian-leather bedazzled roachkillers, but they are roachkillers just the same. She is also not nearly as tall. Now funny thing about Hollywood. Nine times out of ten you see a movie star o a TV star and you’re stunned at just how teensy they are. Well, I guess I just bore that outin the flesh because she is not very big. Do you care at all? I doubt it. But you’ll likely care that Rascal Flatts is enroute….!!!!

The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards is underway!

If you’re just joining us we have just stepped inside from the Red Carpet where we welcomed a cavalcade of stars. i’m sure you’ll want to scroll thru my many posts and see who we spied but just to give you a glimpse, how about everyone from Carrie Underwood to Rascal Flatts to Eric McCormack to Debra Messing to Ed Begley Jr to Omar Epps to Conchata Farrell to Jewel to 90210 — the show thats manged to take America by storm for a second time — the new hit show with the cast that is seemingly able to look and run like gazelles and/or runway models but probably not yet allowed to vote , serve in the Armed Forces or rent a car. Very easy on the eyes, these kids.
