If you love Deadpool and you love Donald Glover, you’re going to love this announcement. FXX has ordered an adult animated comedy adaptation of Deadpool.

Even better news, Glover, who created Atlanta for the network is heading up the new TV series with Stephen Glover. Talk about a super cool, superhero mashup!

Deadpool, Donald and FX — the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth!,” Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb said in a press release via Entertainment Weekly. “We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

As for why Glover will be working on the project, FX original programming president, Nick Grad had some insight.

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original,” Grad said.

We completely agree with this. Atlanta has been a HUGE success and Deadpool has a cult following because of the character’s sass, humor and anti-hero hero characteristics. Together these things are bound to create an amazing show we should all be tuning in for.

There is no word on who will voice Deadpool in the upcoming TV series, but we would be really happy if Ryan Reynolds was in the mix. He is after all the character in the movie and its upcoming sequel and he’s awesome.

The untitled Deadpool series is slated to premiere sometime in 2018.
