On Monday (May 8), Warner Bros. Pictures released the official trailer for Blade Runner 2049 and we’re so excited about it.
Blade Runner 2049 takes place 30 years after the first film happened and a LOT has clearly changed. The movie follows Ryan Gosling’s character, LAPD Officer K, as he searches for a secret that has the potential to change life as they know it.
So what can we learn from this trailer? Well, for starters the world in 2049 is totally bizarre.
“Every civilization was built off the back a disposable work force, but I can only make so many,” Jared Leto says as he creates a creepy man from what looks like clay. Spoiler alert: Leto’s character is bad.
We then see Gosling’s character going through the city, which is full of holograms, bright lights and lots of high-tech machines and space crafts.
Gosling’s K is trying to make sure that the good and evil of the world don’t start a war. He then walks through a deserted area with strange sculptures to find Harrison Ford’s character, Rick Deckard, who has been missing for 30 years.
K needs answers from Deckard in order to do his job and figure out what is happening to the world, answers that will be hard to get.
We then hear a voice reveal that the key to the future has been unearthed, which sounds like a bad thing, but maybe it’ll be a good thing? There are also images of K fighting, kicking butt and trusting no one in the crazy, intense world of 2049.
“Your story isn’t over yet, there’s still a page left,” Gosling is told at the end of the trailer. We are definitely hooked.
Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on October 6, 2017.
