From a surprise Pitch Perfect reunion to Emma Watson’s inspiring acceptance speech, there were plenty of can’t miss moments at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Take a look at some of our favorites below!
1. Adam Devine’s enchanting opening number.
The Workaholics star took a page out of Disney’s book and wowed audiences with a hilarious opening number set to a medley of Beauty and the Beast songs. The audience even got an extra special surprise Pitch Perfect stars Rebel Wilson and Hailee Steinfeld joined Devine on stage dressed as Mrs. Potts and Belle, respectively.
2. Emma Watson’s inspiring acceptance speech.
Watson may have walked away with this year’s Best Actor award, but the Beauty and the Beast star made sure to thank a very special person during her acceptance speech, and that was Belle herself! During her speech, the actress spoke passionately about how she believes the real reason she won was because audiences everywhere related to the way Belle was unafraid of being different and dreaming of more despite a town full of village folk trying to bring her down.
“I loved playing someone who didn’t listen to any of that,” explained Watson. “I am so proud to be apart of a film that celebrates diversity, literacy, inclusion, joy, and love the way that this one does.”
3. Logan actress Dafne Keen adorably steals the mic from Hugh Jackman.
Fans came out in droves to secure Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman and his co-star Dafne Keen (who plays X-23) a pretty big win at this year’s awards. The pair were on hand when they won this year’s Best Duo Award and made sure to show everyone watching that the chemistry between them doesn’t stop when the cameras do. During their acceptance speech, Keen had a bit of fun with Jackman when she swooped in and took over the mic.
“You do 17 years [as Wolverine], I don’t speak for half the movie, and you get to say the thank yous? OK, no,” said Keen before going on to thank her mom, as well as Jackman’s parents.
Here’s hoping these two team up again soon— we definitely need more Hugh Jackman and Dafne Keen in our lives!
4. The cast of The Fast and the Furious accept this year’s Generation Award.
Vin Diesel was in good company when he hit the mic to accept this year’s Generation Award on behalf of his entire Fast and Furious family. The actor, who was accompanied by fellow co-stars Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordan Brewster, made suer to thank the fans for accepting their incredibly diverse franchise. Diesel also took a moment to give a special shoutout to the late Paul Walker.
5. Noah Cyrus brings down the house with her first MTV performance.
Big sis Miley may be a superstar, but it’s clear that all eyes were on Noah at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards. The 17-year-old singer hit the stage and pumped the crowd up with an energetic performance of her new single, “Stay Together.” We won’t blame you if you’ve already got Cyrus’ bop stuck in your head— in fact, we’ve got a hunch her new single will be on heavy rotation all summer long!
6. Tom Holland tries to ask Zendaya to Homecoming.
The stars of this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming hit the stage to present a very special sneak peek at our favorite web-slinger’s new film, but not before having a bit of fun with each other. Playing up the title of the upcoming Spider-Man flick, Holland made it a point to ask Zendaya what it would take for her to go to homecoming with him. When his fellow co-star played coy, Holland took matters into his own hands and wowed the crowd with some seriously impressive gymnastic skills. We’re pretty sure everyone watching the awards totally flipped for Holland’s mad skills!
7. Milo Ventimiglia apologizes for making This Is Us fans cry.
This year’s Tear Jerker category was stacked with some of our favorite emotionally charged dramas, but it was This Is Us that took home the coveted golden popcorn award. After accepting the award alongside his pint-sized co-star, Lonnie Chavis, Ventimiglia adorably apologized to fans everywhere for giving their tear ducts a workout.
“We are sorry that we’ve made you cry, but then again, we’re not very sorry that we’ve made you cry,” said Ventimiglia. “We are very happy that you guys feel emotion with us along the ride of our show.”
