Wonder Woman isn’t even out yet, but the director for the film already has an idea for the sequel.
With so much success over the past decade in regards to all-things superhero, it’s safe to say that if Wonder Woman performs well at the box office this summer, fans will be able to expect a follow-up film.
In fact, director Patty Jenkins is ready with her idea for the next Wonder Woman adventure.
The first film is all about Wonder Woman aka Princess Diana of the Amazon’s origin story. If a second film happens, however, it will be about the hero we are more familiar with.
“I’m excited for her to come to America and become the Wonder Woman we are all familiar with from having grown up around her as an American superhero,” Jenkins told the Toronto Sun. “I’d like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that is its own thing.”
If she does come to America in the sequel, she will also be in a different time, not the days of World War I, which is when the first film is set.
“Wonder Woman 1 is so much about her becoming the person she is,” she explained. “I can’t wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film.”
We can’t wait either, although we’re still waiting on the first film, so the second is a LONG way off.
Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2, 2017.
