It looks like the Iceman is ready to fly again.

During a Reddit AMA on Wednesday (April 26), Val Kilmer addressed his potential involvement with Top Gun 2.

After a fan asked whether he’s going to be in the sequel to the 1986 movie starring Tom Cruise, the actor responded in the affirmative, saying, “What a hoot it will be.”

Later on, however, when answering another question about Top Gun 2, Kilmer’s response indicated his involvement wasn’t yet a lock.

“I would love to be in TOPGUN 2,” Kilmer wrote after a fan asked whether Iceman will be returning for the sequel.

In November of 2015, Kilmer stirred up excitement amongst fans when he revealed that he had been offered a role in Top Gun 2 — only to later say that he had “jumped the gun” with his announcement.

Meanwhile, Cruise — aka Maverick himself — has yet to officially confirm that the follow-up is happening. During an appearance on the Graham Norton Show in October, Cruise addressed a photo posted by producer Jerry Bruckheimer with the caption, “Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend @TomCruise and discuss Top Gun 2.”

While the caption sparked speculation that the duo were on board for the sequel, Cruise would only say that it was being discussed.

“Yes, we’re discussing it,” Cruise told host Graham Norton. “We’re discussing it. We’re trying to figure it out.”

Here’s hoping they figure it out soon!
