The international trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has arrived and it features a very familiar face. After a 13 year hiatus, Keira Knightley is officially back on board the Pirates franchise — and the new trailer for the fifth installment gives fans their first look at her return.
The last time we saw Knightley’s character portray captain Elizabeth Swan Turner was in 2007’s At World’s End. In that film, her husband, Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom) was cursed to be the captain of the Flying Dutchman, which would keep him away from her for 10 years.
Now, however, it looks like both characters are back for the final Pirates film and we couldn’t be happier.
This new international trailer shows a lot of footage we’ve already seen, like Javier Bardem as the undead pirate (Captain Salazar), who is out for revenge on Jack Sparrow. You then see a drunk Sparrow being held in a cell, and Carina (Kaya Scodelario) helping him locate the trident of Poseidon that will save them all.
We also get a glimpse of the entire Turner family — which is definitely new. Towards the end of the trailer you get a glimpse of Will aka Bloom, who although alive and well, has barnacles on his face.
The trailer also gives us a better look at Will and Elizabeth’s son, Henry (Brenton Thwaites), who is the focal point of this film — in addition to Jack Sparrow, of course — and is on a quest to learn more about his father’s curse.
Finally, we get to see Elizabeth, who looks as beautiful as ever. The snapshot of Knightley’s character comes right after Bloom is on screen at about one minute into the clip. She is standing on an island of some sort, looking out to the sea.
Really, this is all we get? We need more! Does the entire Turner family reunite? Will they see Jack Sparrow together? Why is Elizabeth on an island?
While we don’t have those answers now, we’re a month away from the final Pirates film hopefully telling us everything we want to know.
