Twilight fans, you may want to sit down for this. Robert Pattinson might be open to returning to the Twilight franchise after all.
Though Pattinson has previously said he was done with the Twilight franchise, in a new interview with Yahoo! Movies for his new film The Lost City of Z, the actor reversed course, hinting he wouldn’t totally be opposed to revisiting his Twilight roots.
“I mean, I’m always kind of curious. Anything where there’s a mass audience — or seemingly an audience for it — I always like the ideas of subverting people’s expectations,” Pattinson told Yahoo! Movies after learning that there’s a possibility the franchise could be rebooted. “So there could be some radical way of doing it, which could be quite fun. It’s always difficult when there’s no source material. But, yeah I’m always curious.”
Doing another Twilight film would be unexpected since the books were all already made into movies, but if Pattinson was on board, we’re sure filmmakers could find a way to bring Edward Cullen back to life.
Pattinson isn’t the only Twilight star to weigh in on a revival. During an interview in 2015, Kristen Stewart, who portrayed Bella Thorne, said she wouldn’t return to the franchise, but she’d be curious to seeing it recast with new actors.
“To be honest with you: I would be interested,” Stewart told Uproxx at the time. “I’d be kind of fascinated, but it wouldn’t emotionally affect me one way or the other.”
Here’s hoping Pattinson finds his way back to the franchise (and maybe even convinces Stewart to join him as well!).
In the meantime, you can see Pattinson in The Lost City of Z, which hits theaters today!
