Maroon 5 is officially back in the studio and while the band hasn’t announced when we can expect their forthcoming album to be released, that hasn’t stopped frontman Adam Levine from dropping a few hints with regards to what we can expect!

The coach of The Voice recently called in to 94.7 Fresh-FM’s radio station where he spoke candidly on The Tommy Show about how things are going in the studio for the “Don’t Wanna Know” band.

In fact, according to Levine, the stuff Maroon 5 has been cooking up is some of their best material yet.

“[The album will come out] soonish, I think,” teased Levine according to On Air with Ryan Seacrest“We do have an amazing collection of songs that we’ve been compiling for about six months and I think is some of our best material ever.”

In addition to producing some of their best work on their upcoming album, Levine also gave fans a very important clue as to what we can expect from the vibe of the band’s new material. It turns out, Levine’s love for R&B will be a heavy influence on their new album.

“Look since I was 20, I’ve always wanted to make an R&B record. And I will tell you it is starting to lean more in that direction,” explained Levine. “I will say that I’ve never been more excited about the material that we have at this point.”

We’re definitely looking forward to hearing Maroon 5’s new stuff— especially after hearing how excited Levine is about the songs the band has been working on as of late!
