Alexis Bledel will always be our Rory Gilmore, but she’s not totally sure that we can expect more Gilmore Girls in the future. We know that you’re panicking right now, but hear her out.
While promoting her new series, The Handmaid’s Tale at the Television Critics Association panel on Saturday, Bledel opened up about the journey that led to the Gilmore Girls revival and what another reunion would look like — or at least what it would take to get there.
“[A Year in the Life] came together so naturally in a way. We had the fan reunion in Austin and we picked up momentum from there and it came together so quickly and it really seemed like the right thing,” Bledel told reporters at the TCA17 panel via Variety. “The only thing I can say about a future installment of the show is it would be about the story and certainly the timing.”
Although that definitely isn’t a no to another installment from our favorite characters in Stars Hollow, the former Mad Men star explained she has no real idea on whether or not another batch of episodes will actually happen.
“I haven’t heard anything,” Bledel said. “It hasn’t been a conversation as of yet.”
Okay, so it’s not exactly the news we wanted, because of course we want more Gilmore Girls, like right now, but at least it’s not totally off the table.
Until we know for sure if, and when, another group of episodes for the Connecticut-based series are coming to TV, you can focus on Bledel’s next TV venture.
Bledel will play a handmaid on Hulu’s upcoming series The Handmaid’s Tale, which premieres on April 26, 2017!
