Thanks to a brand-new album and a slew of collaborative hit singles, it’s clear that this year was one that will go down in history for Rihanna.
The “Work” singer ensured she was never far from our thoughts and it definitely showed through her various accomplishments. To celebrate Rihanna’s amazing year, we’ve compiled a list of four stand out reasons that prove Rihanna totally had her best year ever. Check them all out below!
1. She kicked off the year with a new album.
RiRi fans had to wait quite a while for Rihanna’s incredibly anticipated follow up to 2012’s Unapologetic. The good news is that Rihanna’s latest album, ANTI was definitely worth the wait!
The “Work” singer released the album in January of 2016 and it’s proven to be one of her best albums to date. With ANTI, Rihanna proved that she can still bring the hits, but also showed the world that she’s an artist that can effortlessly play around with a slew of different genres. That’s probably why Rihanna’s ANTI is now being touted as one of the best albums of 2016!
2. She was one of the most-streamed artists on Spotify this year.
Thanks to hits like “Work,” Rihanna made sure we were bumping her music all year long. In fact, Spotify listeners were so obsessed with Rihanna’s music that it earned her the no. 3 spot on Spotify’s list of the most streamed artists of 2016.
Additionally, Rihanna is also this year’s most streamed female artist on Spotify for the second year in a row with over 2.5 billion streams.
3. She wowed the VMA crowd with her multiple performances.
Rihanna proved she was more than worthy of being honored at the VMAs, when she took the stage not once, but four times throughout the night. The singer dazzled the crowd with energetic performances of some of her biggest hits including “Don’t Stop The Music,” “Only Girl In The World,” and “Work.”
4. She scored a role in the highly anticipated Oceans 8 reboot.
Rihanna has dominated the music charts and now it looks like she’ll soon be dominating the silver screen! The singer landed a role in Warner Bros. upcoming all-female Oceans 8 spinoff and she’ll be sharing the screen with some pretty big A-list actresses.
The film also stars Sandra Bullock, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, and Helena Bonham Carter. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing what role Rihanna plays in the film!
