If there’s one person who knows how to make a comeback, it’s Adele. The incredible vocalist may have taken some time away from the stage to focus on being a mom, but it’s clear the world never stopped being enamored with her.
To celebrate Adele’s amazing year, we’ve compiled a list of four standout moments that prove she’s definitely having one of the best years ever!
Take a look at some of Adele’s highlights from 2016 below!
1. She’s spent the most weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart.
Adele may have released 25 back in November of 2015 but it’s clear she’s still riding high off the success of her third studio album. In fact, according to Billboard, Adele has spent the second-most weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart in 2015. Her album sat at no. 1 for seven weeks before eventually getting dethroned by David Bowie’s Blackstar.
2. She’s officially one of the highest-paid women in music in 2016.
Forbes recently released their year-end list of the world’s highest paid musicians and this year, Adele took third place, coming in just behind Taylor Swift and One Direction. The “Hello” singer earned a total of $80.5 million, the bulk of which came from album sales.
3. She powered through her Grammy’s performance, despite the technical difficulties.
Adele was the epitome of grace under pressure at the 2016 Grammy Awards. During her performance of the emotional ballad, “All I Ask,” the singer experienced some technical difficulties after a few of the mics accidentally fell onto the piano strings, which completely threw the whole performance off.
Later in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, the singer admitted that she cried the next day, but also admitted that she would have cried if it had gone really well. Adele’s honesty just makes us love her even more!
4. Her stint on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke is the biggest viral video on YouTube in 2016.
YouTube recently released it’s list of top trending videos and surprisingly, Adele’s turn in Corden’s passenger seat on Carpool Karaoke came in at number one.
The segment, which debuted back in January of 2016 has racked up a total of over 140 million views, effectively making it one of the biggest videos of the year.
Adele is nominated for Favorite Female Artist at People’s Choice Awards 2017 alongside Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Beyonce, and Rihanna. Tune in to the show on Wednesday, Jan. 18 on CBS to find out which will be crowned the winner!
