Harmonizers’ worlds turned upside down late Sunday (Dec. 19) night when the band announced that Camila Cabello would be leaving Fifth Harmony.
The band took to Twitter to let fans in on the fact that they’d be continuing on as a four-piece pop group saying, “After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representative that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony.”
Now, Cabello is finally speaking out about the announcement and it sounds as though things might have gone down a bit differently than the original statement let on.
The “I Know What You Did Last Summer” singer took to Twitter to post a lengthy note to fans where she reveals that she was surprised to learn of the statement released by Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah, and Lauren.
“I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing. The Girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during tour. Saying that they were just informed through my representatives that I was ‘leaving the group’ is simply not true. Just like the other girls said in their statement about their plans, I had also planned to continue with my own solo endeavors int he near year but I did not intend to end things with Fifth Harmony this way,” wrote Cabello. “As sad as it is to see this chapter ending this way, I will continue to root them all on as individuals and as a group, I wish nothing but the best for them, all the success in the world and true happiness.”
Just like Cabello, we’re sad that her time with the group had to end this way, but we’re definitely looking forward to supporting her in her future solo endeavors.
Cabello finished off her lengthy note by promising fans that she’d be working on solo material in 2017.
“Next year I will be working on my own music and giving you a big chunk of my heart,” continued Cabello. “I am following my heart. I hope to see you on my journey.”
