Ryan Reynolds just teased some interesting new details with regards to Deadpool 2!

In a new interview with EW, the actor revealed the studio is making great headway on the highly anticipated sequel. Reynolds also let slip that they’re in the process of looking for the right people to play two very important mutants.

According to Reynolds, the Deadpool team is in the process of casting for the X-Men and X-Force mutant, Cable. Additionally, Reynolds also let slip that they’re “looking at” adding the female merc Domino to the sequel as well.

Both Cable and Domino are incredibly interesting mutants and it would make sense for Deadpool 2 to introduce them at the same time as they’re known for partnering up in the comics.

Domino’s powers are interesting in the sense that she’s able to affect probability in order to ensure things turn out in her favor. Similarly, Cable was born a telekinetic mutant, although those powers have somewhat faded over time. His real strength lies in his techno-organic body parts, which grant him extra strength and durability. Additionally, his techno-organic left eye grants him enhanced eyesight, making him an expert marksman.

In the past, Domino has worked as a lieutenant in Cable’s militant group, X-Force, meaning bringing on both characters as a means of introducing X-Force into the Deadpool films makes a lot of sense.

In fact, Reynolds even explained his desire to incorporate both X-Force and Cable into the films during an interview with Cinema Blend at San Diego Comic-Con.

“I always see Deadpool running against the grain for everything he does. He can’t possibly conform to any sort of leadership role,” said Reynolds when asked whether or not he’d like to see Deadpool take the reigns on X-Force. “You’d have to have someone like Cable running point on a team like X-Force. I’d love for that to be a next step we take.”

It looks as though all the plans are in motion for Reynolds’s vision to take effect. We’ll definitely be looking forward to learning more about where the sequel will find The Merc with a Mouth as the film moves further and further into production!

Deadpool 2 is expected to hit theaters on Jan. 12, 2018.
