Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has had a wildly successful run across the pond in London and soon, American fans of the boy wizard will be able to experience the stage play for themselves!
According to the announcement, Cursed Child is looking to open in the spring of 2018 at New York City’s Lyric Theater, but bringing the magical stage production to life in the Big Apple won’t be as easy as booking a venue.
In fact, the minds behind the magical production are already in the process of figuring out how to transform the Lyric Theater into a space that will allow U.S. audiences to experience Cursed Child the way it was intended.
Producer Sonia Friedman spoke to Pottermore about plans to remodel the theater, which includes figuring out how to downsize the 1,900 seat space into a 1,500 seat auditorium in order to allow for a more intimate experience.
“We are still subject to planning, but assuming we get the go ahead, we will have the theater of our dreams that will be intimate enough for a drama, yet big enough for us to follow in the footsteps of the London production and continue to provide low-priced tickets throughout the auditorium,” explained Friedman.
There’s no word yet on when fans can expect tickets for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ’s Broadway run to go on sale, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for the date!
