Get ready to see more of Dave Chappelle on Netflix!
Variety reports that Chappelle just inked a new deal with the online streaming service for three new comedy specials.
The news is bound to go over well with stand-up comedy fans — especially considering that Chappelle’s three-special deal will mark the comedian’s first TV special in over a decade.
Chappelle’s new deal will include one original special produced exclusively for Netflix by Chappelle himself, and director Stan Lathan. The other two specials are unreleased projects from Chappelle’s past appearance at Austin City Limits, and the Hollywood Palladium.
In a statement announcing the new partnership, Netflix’s VP of original documentary and comedy, Lisa Nishimura, said they expect Chappelle’s specials to be “some of the most anticipated events in comedy.”
“Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy— searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential,” said Nishimura of the famed comedian.
Currently, Netflix has no firm release dates set for any of Chappelle’s upcoming specials, but fans can expect to see Chappelle’s previously shot material from Austin City Limits and the Hollywood Palladium to roll out sometime next year.
