The Baudelaire children will find themselves facing off against the evil Count Olaf when Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events premieres next year.
Despite the fact that they’re on to him, a new trailer for the series proves that the Baudelaire kids will have their work cut out for them if they want to escape the clutches of their sinister new guardian unscathed.
The new teaser opens with Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and baby Sunny (Presley Smith) discovering that they’re orphans. Soon after that, they’re taken away to live with their new guardian.
It’s clear from the get-go, however that Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) doesn’t have the kids’ best interests at heart.
“We know you’re trying to steal our parents’ fortune,” says Klaus at one point.
As the trailer progresses, it also becomes clear that there’s quite a bit they didn’t know about their parents either, and unlocking the mystery could play a huge role in escaping Count Olaf’s clutches forever.
One thing is clear though: Count Olaf won’t be letting the Baudelaire kids go without a fight.
“Wherever you go, I will hunt you down,” promises their evil guardian.
Netflix’s adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events premieres Friday, Jan. 13, 2017.
