Fans seem to think so — in fact, they’ve been clamoring for a Black Widow movie for quite some time, and it turns out they’re not the only ones who think Natasha Romanova’s story is worth exploring.
In a recent interview with Variety for the magazine’s Power of Women issue, actress Scarlett Johannson, who plays the former spy on screen, opened up about the idea of a Black Widow movie and weighed in on what it could focus on.
“There’s plenty of backstory. Or not. It could be something else. Where do the Avengers go? They are underground. What happens then? What happens after it all falls apart? There’s so many ways you can go,” Johannson told Variety. “I think it would just have to be very much like its own specific thing. It would have its own specific vibe.”
One look at Marvel’s movie slate through 2020 is enough to show that the company clearly has a lot on their plate, but even so, Johannson believes that perhaps if fans want it enough, a Black Widow film will become a reality one day.
“It would have to fit in the idea of where they wanted to go,” continued Johannson. “ [But] I’m invested in the character. Marvel is greatly invested in the character.”
