Jack Gleeson Shares A ‘Game Of Thrones’ Theory That’s Actually Worth Paying Attention To

Fans have quite a few theories when it comes to how HBO’s Game of Thrones could wrap things up over the course of it’s final two seasons, but the best one we’ve heard in a while comes from none other than actor Jack Gleeson.

Viewers will undoubtedly remember Gleeson for the time he spent terrorizing King’s Landing as Joffrey Baratheon. It’s been a while since Gleeson has found himself on the Iron Throne, while at this year’s New York Comic Con, the actor made it a point to share his favorite theory as to how he thinks Game of Thrones will end.

“[A fan] came up with this theory that they told me…someone’s going to like melt down the Iron Throne because it has the Valyrian steel that will overcome the White Walkers,” said Gleeson according to Bustle. “So, I think that’s kind of a cool idea— the monarchy is literally dissolved.”

Our favorite thing about Gleeson’s theory is that it brings up the fate of the Iron Throne and addresses the looming threat of the White Walkers. We’re not sure we ever imagined a Westeros without an Iron Throne, but perhaps, as Gleeson alluded to, melting down the symbol of monarchy would finally bring peace to a land that’s been stained by so much bloodshed.

We’ll definitely be interested to see if Gleeson’s favorite fan theory plays out over the course of the last two seasons!

Game of Thrones returns to HBO in the summer of 2017.
