Gretchen Wieners is one the greatest pop-culture teens of all time. (We’re sure her father, the inventor of Toaster Strudel, would at least agree.) But what has Lacey Chabert, the actress who played the iconic character, been up to since Mean Girls hit theaters in 2004? It turns out, quite a lot!
While Chabert’s first claim to fame was playing Claudia Salinger on Party of Five, it was her portrayal of the queen of The Plastics’ right hand girl, Gretchen, that catapulted her name into a cult-classic. After all, Gretchen coined the phrase, “that is so fetch,” and even though she tried and failed to make fetch happen in the movie, we use it all the time, so her Mean Girls success definitely lives on!
After playing the brunette high school student, the 34-year-old actress alternated between TV and film gigs. For starters Chabert played Gwen Stacey on The Spectacular Spider-Man series and acted alongside Mathew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner in the Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.
She’s voiced Meg Griffen and Jan Brady on numerous episodes of Family Guy and was the voice of Zatanna Zatara on the TV series, Young Justice from 2012 to 2013. In 2013, Chabert also landed a recurring role as Dr. Amy Shaw on Freeform’s Baby Daddy in addition to acting in a few TV movies.
Chabert’s biggest voice role on an animated series has been on Cartoon Network’s Transformers: Rescue Bots. She’s been voicing Dani Burns — among other characters — since 2011, which is pretty impressive. Plus in 2016, she began working on both Kulipari: An Army of Frogs and Shimmer and Shine.
Over the past few years however, Chabert has become a Hallmark staple. She has starred in a ton of their holiday-specific TV movies including, A Royal Christmas, Family for Christmas, A Christmas Melody and the upcoming holiday romance movie, A Wish for Christmas. In case you were unsure, Chabert knows how to make a Christmas movie!
Which Mean Girls star do you want to know more about? Have you seen Chabert in anything since her high school flick?
