The New ‘Doctor Strange’ Trailer Is Very Crypitc

A new Doctor Strange trailer is here and it’s bound to change the way you look at the upcoming film!

Marvel Studios took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to debut a new television spot for Doctor Strange which came with a puzzling message.

“You think you know how the world works…watch and expand your mind,” tweeted the studio in upside down lettering.

Marvel’s cryptic tweet isn’t the most astonishing thing about the announcement. While most of what is featured in the new trailer consists of footage we’ve seen before, what sets this particular teaser apart is that it plays backwards.

The teaser starts off with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange stopping the sinister Kaecilius (Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen) dead in his tracks. Whatever superpower he uses serves as the catalyst to what happens next and from that point forward, the trailer plays entirely in reverse.

As Yahoo News points out, it seems as though the trailer is hinting at the fact that Doctor Strange will have the power to manipulate time— an ability that clearly has the potential to be a total game changer.

We’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing how Doctor Strange comes to wield this incredible ability when the film hits theaters later this year!

Doctor Strange premieres on Nov. 4
