The Flash season three premieres tonight (Oct. 4) on The CW and while there hasn’t yet been any Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten) sightings on the Vancouver set, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a possibility she won’t show up down the road.

When People’s Choice caught up with VanStanten at the InsideOTH event in July, she told us “there’s always a chance” her character could return to the series.

“She just left on a train. She didn’t die,” said VanStanten about Patty’s exit from The Flash. “That’s why they did that. They like to surprise audiences with stuff.”

The last we saw of Patty, she was leaving Central City to head back to college to become a CSI. Only a train ride away, and not dead (although, that doesn’t seem to make much of a difference in this universe), it seems completely plausible that she could return at some point, thus ending the heartbreaking emptiness we feel without her quirky, funny, smart, kick-butt self.

“I think there’s a place where hopefully she’ll be able to come back,” said VanStanten.

Luckily, with The Flash being part of the larger Berlanti Unvierse (The Flash, Arrow, Legends of TomorrowSupergirl), there are three extra chances for Patty to show up. Characters from one Berlanti show are known to pop up on others all the time, making new friends and fighting new enemies. The same could be true for sweet Spivot. The show that VanSanten would most like Patty to crossover on?

“Supergirl,” she said. “I think it’s amazing that there’s a woman lead of a show. I’m all about girl power and she’s really incredible.”

The idea of characters crossing over is one of the many things she loves about this comic world. The 31-year-old actress thinks this “universe is so fun because you get to surprise audiences with beloved characters from other shows” and that just makes us want a Spivot surprise even more!

While VanSanten enjoys thinking about the possibility of a Patty return, she can’t help but think back on her favorite part about shooting her 10 episodes on the series.

“Probably all the stuff with Zoom that Grant [Gustin] and I got to shoot because it was his bad dream, but it was so much fun to get to do the stunt work and to get to see the emotion from Grant and how much in his dreams and subconsciously that Patty really meant to him,” she said.

We’re glad she enjoyed her time on the show and hope to see her character return, but if not, here’s hoping her wish of a role comes true.

“I would love to play a superhero and be the lead of a female-driven superhero show, especially after watching Grant on The Flash,” the former One Tree Hill actress said when asked what show she’d create for herself. “I mean, they always get to save the day, but they always have an internal struggle too. And I’ve always wanted to play a superhero. And being on the show and playing just a normal civilian was fun, but I was like, ‘I want a leather suit and some lipstick.’ I would love to do something like that.”

Come on, Greg Berlanti, what’s *one* more superhero show in your CW universe?

Shantel VanSanten can next be seen in the new USA Network series Shooter premiering November 15 at 10/9c!
