Jurassic World may have introduced us to some brand-new characters, but we’re sure we speak for all Jurassic Park fans when we say it would have been nice to get some intel on what Dr. Alan Grant has been up to since the days he spent running from dinosaurs.
Grant was last seen in Jurassic Park III, and while director Colin Trevorrow’s sequel doesn’t address his whereabouts, actor Sam Neill, who portrayed the famed fictional paleontologist, recently sat down with ShortList to let fans in on what he thinks his on-screen counterpart is up to today.
“I think the problem is that no one knows where Alan Grant is anymore,” said Neill. “He’s retired from paleontology. He’s sick to death of dinosaurs, and running. He’s not quite as fleet of foot as he was. And he’s now retired to Dayton, Ohio, and he has a very successful accountancy business…I think that’s what’s happened.”
At least that’d be the best case scenario.
“No one can find Grant,” Neill continued. “He’s disappeared. Someone found his hat. His hat was floating on the Hudson River. But that was the last that we ever heard of him.”
We definitely hope Grant is safe! Though Neill also revealed that he hasn’t been asked to reprise his role in any upcoming Jurassic Park films, at least if Grant is still alive, there’s hope that we may see him pop up in a cameo at some point in the future!
Up next, fans can catch Sam Neill in director Taika Waititi’s new film, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, out now on digital HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
