Fans who are currently falling in love with actor Chris Sullivan for his portrayal of the endearingly sarcastic Toby on the hit NBC series, This is Us, are about to see him in a whole new light. Come 2017, audiences worldwide will see Sullivan on the big screen as Taserface in the highly anticipated movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The sequel to the original box-office smash starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel and Bradley, Cooper, is not just “really great,” he says, “The movie is going to be mind-bending.”
While at PaleyFest promoting the This Is Us alongside his co-stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown, the actor opened up to People’s Choice about the real reason working on the “Galaxy Vol. 2” film was so exciting for him.
"I got the to do something that I've never had the chance to do before," Sullivan shared, "which was two-and-half hours of prosthetic makeup!"
But Sullivan, who previously starred on Cinemax's The Knick and Netflix's Stranger Things, was far from complaining. In fact, he couldn't have been more humble about describing the hours in the hair-and-make-up chair. "I got to become a space monster," he said, "which is like every boy's childhood dream." He also gushed about working with the movie's writer and director, James Gunn, and Michael Rooker, the actor who will be reprising his role as Yondu Udonta for the sequel.
Said Sullivan: "It doesn't get much better than that in this town."
