If you grew up listening to “Candy” on repeat and couldn’t get enough of Princess Diaries’ Lana Thomas (even though she was a terrible person), you’re definitely a fan of Mandy Moore. And This is Us co-star Milo Ventimiglia is no different. While speaking with the 39-year-old actor at PaleyFest in Los Angeles earlier this month, he admitted that he’s always been a huge fan of Moore’s work. In fact, the first major movie premiere he ever attended was one of her films.
Ventimiglia slid down memory lane while talking to People’s Choice.
The actor recalled that back in 2002, "I was filming Gilmore Girls and I got invited from the people at the studio Warner Brothers to see this movie, A Walk to Remember."
The main reason Ventimiglia decided to attend, however, was because he was best friends with the movie's other star, Shane West, who he said is "an actor that I've probably known the longest of anyone in town, so I was like, 'Yeah, I'm going to go see my buddy Shane's thing."
Explained Ventimigli, "I went and remember seeing Mandy, and the movie, and was like 'this is cool!'"
Flash-forward 14 years later, and Ventimiglia is starring alongside Moore on the breakout NBC fall drama, This Is Us.
"Now getting to play what we play, as husband and wife, I'm daily blown away by her talent, her heart, everything. If you don't already know Mandy, you are going to fall in love with her on this show," said the actor.
We couldn't agree more!
This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
