If you’re bummed out about your Patronus after taking J.K. Rowling’s official quiz on Pottermore, rest easy knowing that you’re not the only one! In fact, there’s one Harry Potter actor that’s just as disappointed as you might be.
Big time Potter head Evanna Lynch, who also happened to play Luna Lovegood in the films, took to Twitter shortly after taking Rowling’s Patronus quiz to express her disappointment in her test results.
Lynch, who’s a huge cat lover, was hoping her Patronus would take the form of a furry feline, but instead, she got the shock of a lifetime when she ended up producing a Patronus that takes the shape of a salmon.
“I don’t reddit @pottermore…all of my happiest memories are spent in the presence of cats. Why oh why is my Patronus a SALMON?!” tweeted Lynch on Thursday (Sept. 22).
Later, Lynch elaborated on her results and even admitted that she took the quiz multiple times in the hopes of scoring a cat.
“The tragic thing is Salmon was my second (more centered, instinctive) attempt. My first time taking the quiz I got a GREYHOUND. Don’t even,” continued Lynch. “My sad lil salmon would make me cry & feel bad things & doesn’t that defeat the whole purpose of a Patronus?! WHERE IS MY FIERCE LION PATRONUS.”
A salmon may seem like a dud of a Patronus, but the animal actually has some pretty interesting significance in folklore. Those who may have produced a salmon Patronus might take comfort in knowing that the salmon has long been a symbol associated with knowledge and wisdom.
Perhaps this is the quiz’s way of letting Lynch know that despite getting sorted into Gryffindor on Pottermore, there’s a little bit of Ravenclaw in her after all!
