Wahlberg appeared on Tuesday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and opened up about his friendship with LeBron, and the plan to do a movie revolving around basketball together. No, it’s not Space Jam 2, which according to The Hollywood Reporter, LeBron is slated to star in, but it will be about the sport, so you should still be excited.
When Jimmy Fallon pulled out a photo of the Deepwater Horizon actor hanging out with the Cleveland Cavalier player (at Wahlberg’s home gym might we add), Wahlberg revealed the two have already talked about the movie.
“He and I are talking about doing a movie together,” Wahlberg told Fallon. “It’s actually a great idea. It’s based around the fantasy league, so these guys get to go to one of these fantasy camps, and me and LeBron have a situation.”
LeBron caught our eye when he proved he has not only acting chops, but good comedic timing while starring in Amy Schumer’s comedy, Trainwreck, in 2015. With Trainwreck, the upcoming Space Jam sequel and a Wahlberg film, LeBron might become known as the actor who also plays basketball. Okay, obviously he’s a basketball player first, but acting does seem to be a new passion of his, and we’re on board with it. In fact, according to Deadline, Lebron is developing a sitcom for NBC (perhaps he can convince Wahlberg to guest star?).
As for Wahlberg, the 45-year-old Oscar-nominated actor always has a new project in the works. He currently has two projects confirmed including, Patriots Day, which is in post-production and Transformers: The Last Knight, which is currently filming. His most recent movie, Deepwater Horizon, which also stars Kate Hudson and Kurt Russell, is based on the offshore drilling rig that exploded in 2010 and hits theaters next week.
Deepwater Horizon hits theaters September 30.
