The brand-new quiz, written by J.K. Rowling herself, has been one of the most highly requested features by fans for years, so we’re sure everyone’s incredibly happy that it finally exists.
The author took to Twitter after the feature launched to talk a bit about the process of creating the test and even revealed that it was written “ages ago,” although it wasn’t quite ready for everyone to take until now.
“As many of you have realized, the Patronus Test is finally live! I took the @pottermore test (which I wrote) ages ago when it was a work in progress and got a pine marten Patronus. I was happy because my fondness for weaselly creatures is well documented,” wrote Rowling. “However, when we finalized the @pottermore test last week I took it again and found out that it had changed (which, as we know, can happen.) My new Patronus has personal associations and I like it even better, so as far as I’m concerned, the @pottermore test works! Here’s my Patronus. It’s a heron :)”
As we explained previously, a Patronus is a magical guardian that generally takes the form of an animal the caster shares the deepest affinity with. They’re used to ward off Dementors, and more, and require a witch or wizard to muster up the happiest thought they can think of in order to successfully cast the spell.
We couldn’t be more thrilled that Rowling’s Patronus quiz has finally come to Pottermore, and we’re even more excited to take the test for ourselves to find out what form our Patronuses will take!
