The biggest stars in Hollywood took over the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday (Sept. 18) to celebrate the best of the best in television at the 2016 Emmy Awards.

Jimmy Kimmel took a break from his late night duties to host this year’s festivities and there’s no denying that there were some pretty great moments amidst the celebration.

Catch up on some of the greatest moments from the 68th annual Emmy Awards below!

1. Jimmy Kimmel’s hilarious opening skit
The host of this year’s Emmys pulled out all the stops for a fun opening sketch which included cameos from the cast of Modern Family, Veep, fellow late night hosts — including James Corden, and more. Kimmel even hitched a ride on the back of one of Deanerys’ dragons as he tried to get to the Emmys in time to host!

2. Kate McKinnon gets emotional accepting her award
The star of Ghostbusters teared up as she picked up her first Emmy win for best supporting actress in a comedy for Saturday Night Live. “I’m really crying. I’m not making it up,” said the comedic actress as she composed herself up on the podium.

3. Julia Louis-Dreyfus picks up her fifth consecutive win.
The star of Veep reigned supreme once more after picking up her fifth consecutive Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy. Dreyfus’ acceptance speech had more than a few zingers, but it was her emotional reaction that really struck a chord.

4. The cast of Stranger Things passes out bag lunches to those in attendance.
Jimmy Kimmel knows that award shows can drag on— that’s why he recruited his mom to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the crowd in attendance. Making the bit even more fun? Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gatten Matarazzo (Dustin) and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) took to the audience dressed as their on-screen personas to pass the snacks around.

5. Tony Goldwyn makes a cute joke about Kerry Washington’s pregnancy
Kerry Washington showed up at the Emmys with the best accessory of the night: a baby bump! And everyone, including fellow Scandal star Tony Goldwyn, took notice.

When the pair took the stage to present the award for writing in a limited series or movie, Goldwyn joked that writers have tough jobs because “sometimes writers have to deal with a real life situation.”

“What kind of real situation are you talking about?” asked Washington, turning to the side to show off her pregnancy belly.

6. Matt Damon crashes Jimmy Kimmel’s hosting gig
The saga continues when it comes to Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel’s iconic feud! The Bourne Legacy star turned up just as Kimmel took the stage after losing the award for best late night show to Last Week With John Oliver, and couldn’t resist pouring salt into open wounds.

“I missed the last category— did you win?” asked Damon while munching on an apple. “ So you’re not gonna get a trophy?”

Despite confirming that he had indeed lost, Damon just wouldn’t let up, which made for one of the funniest moments of the night!

7. Kit Harington and Andy Samberg petition to get in on next year’s Emmys highlight reel.
Game of Thrones star Kit Harington joined Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Andy Samberg on the Emmys stage to show viewers the power of a good soundbite.

Before going on to their presenting duties, Harington and Samberg jokingly took a moment to throw out a few quotes they were sure would get them featured in the highlights reel for next year’s awards. We’ve got a feeling “Talk about a tapeworm!” will definitely make the cut!
