With a new crop of teenagers tasked with saving the world when the upcoming Power Rangers reboot hits the big screen, don’t expect to see any familiar faces in the lineup.

In a recent interview with Audibly Exquisite, original Power Rangers star Walter Jones revealed that fans of the hit action series shouldn’t expect to see any old Rangers make cameos in the new full-length feature.

“Unfortunately we were not invited to be part of the film which is confusing to be, but I’m excited about the film nevertheless,” said Jones, who played the Black Ranger in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, according to EW.

These days, it’s sort of become the norm for reboots to cleverly figure out a way to feature the original cast in some way in the film. It’s a nice way to get old alumns involved, and additionally, it’s fun for fans who have been there from the very beginning to spot their old favorites in the background, so it’s interesting that the Power Rangers reboot won’t be following this trend.

As sad as we are that we won’t be spotting the original Trini, Billy, Kimberly, Jason, Zack, and Tommy, in the new film, like Jones, we’re excited to see what Lionsgate does with their upcoming Power Rangers reboot!
