Could Reese Witherspoon be heading back to Pigeon Creek, Alabama to reprise one of her most popular characters?

While better known for her work in films like Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions, Reese Witherspoon’s romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama is an endearing fan favorite. Released in 2002, the movie stars Reese as New York City fashion designer Melanie Smooter, a young woman who returns home to Alabama to get a divorce from her first husband (Josh Lucas) in order to marry her current fiance (Patrick Dempsey).

Both hilarity and romantic entanglements ensue.

During a chat on Facebook Live last Thursday (Aug. 25), Reese responded to a fan’s comment about Sweet Home Alabama by admitting that she would “happily” make a sequel to the film.

“I love Sweet Home Alabama!” Witherspoon said. “We are not making a sequel that I know of, but if Disney wants to call me, I would happily make a Sweet Home Alabama 2!”

Just think, the “baby in a bar” from one of the most quotable Sweet Home Alamaba scenes is now a teenager!

If you’re talking sequels with Witherspoon, the topic of another Legally Blonde film will invariably pop up. During the same Facebook Live session, the actress admitted that we may not have seen the last of Harvard Law School alumnus Elle Woods.

”[Legally Blonde] was really fun,” Reese said. “A lot of people have asked me if we’re going to make another Legally Blonde, and we’re thinking about it.”
