Actor Luke Perry is probably best known for paying 90210’s resident bad boy in the 90s, but this year he’ll find himself diving back into the world of high school…sort of!

The actor is set to star as Fred Andrews in The CW’s Archie Comics-inspired drama, Riverdale and while he may not be hitting the books, he will be playing father to a teenage son.

When we caught up with Perry at this year’s CW TCA red carpet, the actor revealed that he feels as though taking on the role of Archie’s (K.J. Apa) father is a bit of a full-circle moment for him.

“It does seem kind of hard to get away from high school for me, but I guess in some ways it has come around and that’s what you want. You want the circle to complete,” Perry told People’s Choice.

Perry also revealed it was his agent who originally handed him the script that made him fall in love with the idea of taking part in Riverdale.

“It was that simple. I took a look at it, [and] I went in to meet with Roberto [Aguirre], Lee [Rose], and Sarah [Schechter], and the people that run our show,” explained Perry. “These guys were great— it made me want to work with them.”

Riverdale premieres Monday, Oct. 10 on The CW.
