When Pretty Little Liars wraps up for good next year, fans can expect the series to go out with a bang.

During a call with media outlets reported by Vulture, showrunner Marlene King revealed that the finale will come in the form of a two-hour movie.

“I will say that the final episode is going to be treated like a two-hour movie. I’m writing it with Maya Goldsmith, who I co-wrote last night’s finale with, and I’ll be directing it,” King said, according to Vulture.

Though the series is coming to an end, King also teased that this may not be the last we hear of characters like Emily (Shay Mitchell), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Aria (Lucy Hale), and Alison (Sasha Pieterse).

Speaking to Good Morning America last November, the showrunner revealed there have been talks of making a proper Pretty Little Liars movie. King even said she has “some really big ideas for a great PLL movie,” swirling around in her brain. Now, King is assuring fans that they haven’t closed the doors on the possibility of reuniting the cast to make a movie at some point in the distant future.

“We’re very open to finding ways to keep these characters alive,” said King. “I hope that down the line we can find a way to bring all of the girls back together again.”

As fans of Pretty Little Liars, we hope the showrunner is able to swing that as well. We’ve already seen what the girls are like five years later thanks to this year’s time jump, but it’d be fun to revisit them as proper adults if Marlene King ever does decide to revisit Rosewood again!
