The Spice Girls had a reunion recently, but it didn’t have anything to do with music.
As fans of Britain’s top girl group celebrate the 20th anniversary of their hit single “Wannabe,” some of the ladies got together for a good ol’ girls night in this past weekend (Aug. 27). Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell, also known as Scary, Baby and Ginger Spice, all brought out their best pajamas for the get together and even Instagrammed the sleepover.
Hanging with my girls yipppppeee #GirlPower,” Mel B captioned her Friday night pic of the ladies on Instagram. “#WichesofEastWick @emmaLeeBunton @TheRealGeriHalliwell it’s not a chip on my shoulder, it’s a Banna.”
While Geri Halliwell referred to their reunion as “kitchen disco,” Emma Bunton put it best when she captioned her pic, “On a Friday night all you need is tea, cake, wine and friendship! #girlpower.” Well said!
Before the days of One Direction and Little Mix, The Spice Girls were the U.K.’s biggest industry-compiled band. Formed in 1994 and cited as the second wave of “the British invasion”, the five ladies: Sporty, Scary, Baby, Posh and Ginger Spice, toured the world promoting girl power and dropped three wildly successful albums. After breaking up in 2000, the five ladies got back together for The Return of the Spice Girls Tour in 2007. In early 2016, Geri, Emma and Mel B launched a trio subset of the group called Spice Girls – GEM.
