Elle Woods might be back on the big screen soon!
Academy Award- winning actress Reese Witherspoon admitted during a Facebook Live session last Thursday (Aug. 25) that she might actually be game for another Legally Blonde sequel, should the script find Elle in the right situation.
”[Legally Blonde] was really fun,” Reese told fans during the session. “A lot of people have asked me if we’re going to make another Legally Blonde, and we’re thinking about it.”
The 2001 comedy about a sorority girl who gets into Harvard Law School was a box office hit and has since become a cult classic and standard ‘girls night in’ movie pick. The 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red White & Blonde, found Elle, fiancé Emmett and dog Bruiser off to Washington D.C. on Elle’s newfound quest to outlaw animal testing. Though it was a strong sequel in terms of box office logistics — grossing almost $90 million in the U.S. — there was little talk of following up Elle’s story with another movie. Meanwhile, the storyline of the original movie was adapted into a Broadway play in 2007 and still tours today.
What boundaries could bubbly Elle Woods break through in her next movie? Running for president while pregnant with her and Emmett’s first child, maybe? The possibilities are endless.
