Selena Gomez has come a long way since Ramona and Beezus first premiered in 2010, and as it turns out, so has her on-screen kid sister, Joey King.

Based on a novel by Beverly Cleary, the feel-good family movie featured Gomez playing big sister to a little girl with a huge imagination named Ramona Quimby (King). When the Quimby family falls on tough times, Ramona takes it upon herself to try and earn a bit of extra cash for her family. Unfortunately, despite her good intentions, her plans end up backfiring in hilarious ways— sometimes, even at the expense of her older sister Beezus (Gomez).

Since wrapping on Ramona and Beezus, which she starred in when she was 11, King has gone on to land roles in films like Crazy, Stupid, Love, White House Down, and Wish I Was Here. Up next, King, who is now 17, is set to tackle the world of DC Comics when she joins the cast of The Flash as one of Barry Allen’s enemies.

King took to Twitter to let fans in on her upcoming role, revealing that we can expect to see her portray “Frankie” Kane, better known to DC comics fans as Magenta.

The actress will also be seen in the upcoming horror film, Wish Upon.

We’re definitely looking forward to seeing Joey King square off against Grant Gustin when The Flash returns for season 3!

The Flash season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 4 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
