Jack Ryan, did you put your fellow CIA agent’s stapler in jello again?

Amazon has ordered 10 episodes of a new Jack Ryan series starring The Office’s John Krasinski, Variety reports. Based on Tom Clancy’s classic character from his successful literary series, the one hour action drama will follow an up-and-coming CIA analyst (Krasinski) who is thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time.

From there Jack Ryan attempts to save the world as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.

Adapted for the small screen by Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland, the two will serve as executive producers alongside Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross, Mace Neufeld, and Lindsey Springer.

“We’re excited to add the Jack Ryan global franchise to our robust originals pipeline,” said head of Amazon Studios Roy Price. “Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content.”

The iconic character has previously been portrayed by Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October), Harrison Ford (Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger), Ben Affleck (The Sum of All Fears), and Chris Pine (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit).

No premiere date for Amazon’s Jack Ryan series has been announced.

What do you think? Do you like the idea of John Krasinski taking on the role of Jack Ryan?
