Clear eyes, full hearts, with Cable by his side Deadpool can’t lose!

Thanks to Deadpool’s Ferris Bueller-inspired second post-credits sequence, we know that the beloved Marvel Comics character Cable, the mutant son of Scott Summers & Madelyne Pryor who possesses psychic and telekinetic abilities, will likely be appearing in Deadpool 2. But which actor has what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the Merc With A Mouth?

How about Coach Taylor himself — aka Friday Night Lights alum Kyle Chandler?

ComicBookMovie.com reports that during the latest installment of Meet The Movie Press, Mashable writer Jeff Sneider revealed that Chandler, who currently portrays John Rayburn on the Netflix series Bloodline, is rumored to be in consideration to play the time-traveling mutant.

“People were talking about Cable from Deadpool 2. There’s been a name floating around for Cable for months, hasn’t changed, don’t know if it’s changed. Didn’t make any calls about this. This was just the name that has been out there for months. So take this with a gigantic grain of salt. The biggest grain of salt your tiny little brain can imagine. The name that is floating around for Cable right now is Kyle Chandler,” Sneider said on Meet The Movie Press according to ComicBookMovie.com.

The creator of the character, Rob Liefeld, told MTV News back in May that he was against having Cable in the first film because it was “Ryan Reynolds’s time to shine.”

“You don’t need Cable. Cable can wait,” Liefeld said. “I remember my mind was screaming, ‘What are you doing, greedy comic-book freelance guy? You have the chance to see two of your creations instead of one!’ But I felt like it was really important to keep it Deadpool-focused. That was the only time that I was presented with a choice.”

In related casting news, Halt and Catch Fire star Mackenzie Davis is rumored to be in consideration for the role of fellow X-Force member Neena Thurman, aka the Domino, for the hotly anticipated sequel.
