Things are about to get a bit more musical on The Flash and Supergirl!

Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin may be busy saving the world on their respective superhero series, but that doesn’t mean that we’ve forgotten they’ve also got the power of song in their arsenals. Now, it looks like both actors are going to get the chance to show off their vocal skills in a series of two musical crossover episodes set to air on The CW in the back half of this coming season.

According to Variety, executive producers for the series revealed plans for the musical crossover at The CW Television Critics Association summer press tour presentation on Thursday (Aug. 11).

During the press event, the producers also clarified that the musical crossover would be in addition to the previously announced four-show crossover that is set to take place between The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in November.

Both Gustin and Benoist are former Glee alums, so when Supergirl officially made the move over to The CW, many were wondering whether or not we’d ever get to see the two actors bust out a song or two as Barry Allen and Kara Danvers.

When People’s Choice caught up with Gustin at The CW Upfronts in New York back in May to find out whether he’d be open to a musical episode, he told us he’d only be up for it on certain conditions.

“I think if singing happens on the show within the story organically like the karaoke thing that happened, it’s awesome,” said Gustin, who briefly sang on The Flash during an episode with a karaoke-outing in season 1. “Maybe we take Kara to the karaoke bar that we went to or something and we can sing. That’d be cool.”

We’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing just how showrunners tie music into the upcoming crossover between The Flash and Supergirl!
