A few of your favorite characters from Suicide Squad may be heading to Gotham City in the future, but there’s a catch.
Last year, Fox’s Gotham introduced a younger version (or “proto-version”) of the Joker via the character of Jerome (Cameron Monaghan), now it seems the Killer Croc and Harley Quinn may be coming to town next.
While Croc and Quinn were portrayed in the film by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Margot Robbie, respectively, Fox’s Gotham focuses on the younger days of our favorite DC Comics characters. During the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Monday, Gotham executive producer John Stephens revealed that while we’ll eventually be seeing proto-versions of Croc and Quinn on the Fox superhero series, it may not be this season.
“A lot of those characters, because they’re in Suicide Squad, we’re not going to be seeing them this season,” Stephens said, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. “We will be seeing proto-versions of some of those characters; we’ll see a proto-Killer Croc version. And we’ll be seeing a character — perhaps not this season, but in times to come — who can be a forerunner for Harley Quinn.”
Even though a younger Harley Quinn may not appear on Gotham this year, executive producer Ken Woodruff believes the spirit of the Suicide Squad will influence the upcoming third season.
“The spirit of the Suicide Squad — teaming up super villains, putting them together, and having them be a more powerful force — is something that we’re definitely doing in season 3 of Gotham,” Woodruff said.
