NBC’s Chicago series may have taken over firehouses, precincts, hospitals, and more, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more stories to tell in the Windy City.
During NBC’s Television Critics Association summer press tour presentation on Tuesday (August 2), entertainment chair Bob Greenblatt revealed that juggling four series doesn’t mean the network has ruled out expanding showrunner Dick Wolf‘s Chicago even further.
“Every time I think [showrunner] Dick Wolf has finished what he’s started, he comes up with another idea,” said Greenblatt according to Variety. “Conventional wisdom would probably say if you get one spinoff, you’re probably in the 99th percentile of success, but to have three, I think we’re gliding the lily to go beyond that…but I’ll never count Dick Wolf out.”
Up next, fans of Dick Wolf’s Windy City dramas can look forward to the debut of Chicago Justice. The latest spinoff will focus on the State Attorney’s dedicated team of prosecutors and investigators as they tackle city politics and face high-profile cases head-on.
Making the leap to law is the perfect next step for the Chicago franchise and we imagine, we’ll see a bit of intersection between Chicago Justice and Chicago P.D. as the new series progresses.
What do you think? Should there be another Chicago spinoff?
Chicago Justice is expected to premiere on NBC sometime in 2017.
