Bad news, My Chemical Romance fans— it looks as though the reunion of our dreams isn’t happening after all.

Fans of the “Teenagers” musicians went into a tizzy after the band posted a cryptic tweet on Wednesday (July 20). The message in question featured no text— simply an ominous video that played the starting notes of Welcome To The Black Parade‘s titular track before leaving everyone with the message, “9/23/16.”

Naturally, everyone assumed the tweet meant My Chemical Romance was planning to reunite in a big way after officially calling it quits in 2013. Unfortunately, our little scene hearts were crushed on Thursday (July 21) when the band took to Twitter to post yet another message clearing things up.

“We’ve been really touched and blown away by the response to the teaser trailer,” wrote MCR in another tweet. “We are not touring and there is no reunion planned— only a release for the anniversary of The Black Parade. Thanks so much for continuing to keep MCR in your minds and in your hearts.”

No reunion? No tour? We’re NOT ok (we promise)! In hindsight, a reissue of Welcome To The Black Parade isn’t nearly as exciting now that we know it won’t be coming with a full-fledged reunion, but we’ll still be looking out for it nevertheless. Here’s hoping it comes with some cool new extras!
