The Walking Dead capped off season 6 with the ultimate cliffhanger and the show isn’t letting fans forget it!
The AMC series recently revealed some brand-new key art for the upcoming seventh season, and it does a great job of reminding us all of where the show left off with new big bad, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) .
The still, which was posted by the The Walking Dead’s official Twitter account on Thursday (July 14), is taken from just behind Negan, who stands front-and-center with his trusty bat, Lucille, resting ominously on one shoulder. Meanwhile, all of our other favorite Walking Dead characters are lined up in a row, just as they were during the final moments of the season 6 finale.
“Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. You are it. The #TWD Season 7 trailer arrives Friday, July 22 at #TWDSDCC,” tweeted the series.
Last season left off with someone from Rick’s group meeting their demise after getting the better end of Lucille — and we can still remember the gruesome sounds the barbed wire covered bat made as Negan hit one of them as punishment.
Fans, of course, have been speculating for months over who the unlucky soul could have been — and they might just get a clue soon. The trailer for season 7 is set to debut at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and it might just provide some hints that unravel the mystery. Until then, this new photo is certainly enough to keep our anticipation high!
The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October.
