KatyCats got worked into a frenzy last night (July 14) when Katy Perry dropped her first new piece of music in two years!

Perry dropped the single “Rise,” an uplifting anthem with electronic tones for the 2016 Olympic Game, on iTunes and Apple Music. Katy also wrote the song.

“When the fire’s at my feet again, and the vultures all start circling/They’re whispering, ‘You’re out of time,’ but still I rise,” belts Katy in the chorus.

NBC also released the song on their YouTube page with a montage of U.S.A. athletes doing what they do best, tumbling, throwing, diving, dodging and just all around going for the gold.

“This is a song that’s been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface,” said Katy on the Today Show when the song dropped. “I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite.”

Last time we heard from the 31-year-old singer was on her 2013 album Prism, which features the singles “Roar,” “Dark Horse” and “This Is How We Do.”

The 2016 Olympics take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil August 5 to 21.
