There could be trouble on the horizon for one of Fast 8’s biggest stars.
Dwayne Johnson’s character Hobbs was last seen saving Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) life and putting the dastardly Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) behind bars in Fast & Furious 7. But a recent Instagram post hints that Shaw may not be the only one singing the jailhouse blues in the upcoming Fast 8.
Johnson posted a photo (see above) that shows his character in shackles wearing an orange prison jumpsuit along with the hashtags #OnSet, #FastAndFurious8, #HobbsTheIceman, and #F8. Hobbs, who went from hunting Dom’s gang in Fast Five to aligning himself with the vehicular outlaws in Fast 6 and beyond, was still a Diplomatic Security Service agent at the end of Fast 7, so is this pic a harbinger of things to come or perhaps a part of a more intricate plan concocted by Toretto?
While we wait for answers, Johnson also shared another pic from the set of Fast 8 that highlights the softer side of the ubiquitous star. The charming photo shows the actor participating in the “greatest group hug ever” with a group of his youngest fans.
“As I told these awesome young girls how amazing of a job they did on set all day, they gave me the GREATEST GROUP HUG EVER,” Johnson captioned his Instagram photo. “My heart melted in a very manly way of course. Very manly. #OnSet #FastAndFurious #UncleHobbs #PinkButterflies #RedDragons #GreatestGroupHugEVER 👍🏾💯.”
The “big brown balled tattooed guy” also uploaded an adorable video in which “Uncle Hobbs” joked around with the Pink Butterflies and Red Dragons.
Me and my lovely ladies playing our fav game, "Who's your favorite movie star?" @prattprattpratt @kevinhart4real or the big, brown bald tattooed guy. Wait I told not to mention the "I'll buy you ice cream if you say my name" part when the camera was rolling! #OnSet #FastAndFurious8 #AwesomeLovelyLadies!! 👍🏾💯
Fast 8 races into theaters on April 14, 2017.
