Fans hoping to see a bit more of Karen Gillan’s Nebula in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel are in luck!

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn took part in an impromptu Twitter Q&A with fans earlier this week and revealed a trove of interesting behind-the-scenes details about the Guardians franchise. One such peek behind the curtain at Guardians 2 dealt with Karen Gillian’s Nebula, the rebellious daughter of Josh Brolin’s villainous Thanos.

After a fan asked Gunn whether Gillian’s scenes are all filmed at once because of the amount of makeup she has to wear for the role, the director explained that wasn’t the case and confirmed Nebula will be a huge character in the upcoming sequel.

“Nebula is a huge character in @GotGVol2,” Gunn tweeted. “@karengillan has her makeup applied every day of her many days on set.”

Gunn, who went on to say that Guardians 2 will have more elements of science fiction than the first film, also admitted that he had to fight to get Dave Bautista (Drax) and Michael Rooker (Yondu) cast in the original Guardians.

“I fought hard for @DaveBautista & Rooker on the 1st movie,” the director tweeted. “A few others were fights but easier. No fights on Vol 2.”

Surprisingly, another actor Gunn had to go to bat for is megastar Chris Pratt, who the director said he also had to fight for but admitted it “wasn’t as much of a struggle.”

It’s safe to say that Gunn has a pretty phenomenal eye for talent.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 5, 2017.
