In J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world, Voldemort’s name alone is enough to strike fear into the hearts of witches and wizards everywhere. Now, we’re finding out that actor Ralph Fiennes, who played He Who Must Not Be Named in the Harry Potter films, was equally as terrifying!

In a new interview with EW, Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he found Fiennes “genuinely intimidating” when he first started filming scenes with him as Lord Voldemort.

The subject came up when Radcliffe was asked to describe some of his fellow Potter co-stars in one word. It was then that the actor reminisced about what it was like shooting scenes with Fiennes when Radcliffe was 15-years-old.

“[Ralph] genuinely scared me for a few years,” said Radcliffe.

Though he may have been a bit unnerved by Fiennes at first, Radcliffe went on to say that working with the seasoned actor was a great “learning experience.”

At the end of the day, the fact that Radcliffe found Fiennes so intimidating at first only goes to show just how perfect he was for the role of Lord Voldemort!
