While director Paul Feig gears up to take the box office by storm with his forthcoming Ghostbusters reboot, fans of his 2015 comedy Spy will be excited to hear that the successful writer/director already has a story idea for a potential sequel!

Featuring an all-star cast headlined by Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, and Rose Byrne, the action-spy comedy was an unmitigated success at the box office grossing over $235 million and earning two Golden Globe nominations. During a recent interview with Empire, the director revealed that star Melissa McCarthy is completely on board to reprise her role as agent Susan Cooper.

“That’s another world that I don’t want to walk away from,” the director told Empire about Spy. “It’s the first thing I did that I set up to be a possible franchise and Melissa is dying to do it. I have a story for it, and a funny idea that will kick it off that involves Statham.”

Fans who adored Statham’s comedic cluelessness in the original film can expect much of the same for the dim-witted tough guy in the sequel.

“Susan Cooper is one of my favorite characters I’ve ever come up with, but Rick Ford is possibly the one I’ll take to the grave with me,” Feig continued. “Will he get any more self-aware in the sequel? No, god no. He’ll get less self-aware.”
