Finding Dory may have been hit among audiences, but it looks like we won’t be getting a follow up to the Finding Nemo sequel anytime soon.

In a new interview with EW, director Andrew Stanton told the publication that fans of the sequel shouldn’t hold out hope that there’ll be a third because they’ve told the story they need to tell.

“I really do feel like this was the missing piece, emotionally, for the first movie,” Stanton told EW.

Of course, given all the new and very memorable characters like Gerald, Becky, and Hank, that are introduced in Finding Dory, you may be thinking that there are surely more stories to tell. That’s something Stanton sees as well, which is why he wants fans to know, he’ll never say never.

“We’ve broadened the universe for this movie. And again, I’m very used to seeing that world continue to pen up from the Toy Story movies…so I’ve learned to just say, to my knowledge, I think everything that was born of the first movie is wrapped up,” continued Stanton. “But we’ll see.”

That sounds like a reasonable enough answer, but we’re not going to lie— we’re definitely hoping Disney-Pixar decides to expand on some of the new characters they introduced in Finding Dory!
