There’s good news and bad news.
The good news is The Spice Girls are reportedly gearing up for a 20th anniversary tour, a welcomed reunion in the heart of any ’90s baby. But the bad news is (brace yourself) they might replace Posh and Sporty Spice when they hit the road!
According to Life & Style, the cheeky British girl group is planning to hold try outs to replace two of its original members: Victoria Beckham, better known as Posh Spice, and Melanie Chisholm, aka Sporty Spice.
A source tells the magazine that Victoria and Mel C, are not planning to participate in the upcoming tour, so rather the cut the whole operation, executives are hoping to find worthy replacements for the two singers.
Formed in 1994, Baby Spice, Sporty Spice, Ginger Spice, Scary Spice and Posh Spice took the pop world by storm. With movies, memorabilia, iconic fashion statements and of course, “girl power” music, the group was at one point the top-earning musical act in the world. To this day, songs like “Wannabe” and “Say You’ll Be There” are ’90s pop staples and go-to tracks at karaoke nights.
The ladies disbanded in 2000 but then in 2007 revealed they would be touring as a group once again under “The Return of the Spice Girls.” The sold out tour propelled the ladies back into the spotlight, but apparently Posh and Sporty weren’t much for the tour life this go around. Emma B (Baby), Geri Halliwell (Ginger), and Melanie “Mel B” Brown (Scary), are all on board for the tour, per Life & Style. But will it be the same with two out of three girls missing?
